LeBron James did not participate in preseason and was out for the games against the Golden State Warriors and the Suns this month as a result of the sciatic problem.

James will likely miss for all five of the LA Lakers' games in the month of October, featuring the opening match against the Warriors.

James, the league's top scorer, has always been present for the start of the NBA year in his 22-season tenure.

His count of one thousand five hundred sixty-two regular-season appearances is only 50 away than breaking former Boston star Robert Parish's NBA record.

The four-time NBA champion appeared in 70 of the Lakers' 82 games last term and played on 71 games in the previous year.

In the most recent campaign, LeBron James averaged 24.4 points, 8.2 assists per game and 7.8 rebounds per game and finished sixth in the MVP vote.

LA qualified for the playoffs in last season but fell 4-1 against the Minnesota in the opening round.
