Hardline Ex- Congressman J.A. Kast Voted In as Chile's New President.

After a definitive second-round vote, ultra-conservative politician José Antonio Kast has secured the presidency in Chile.

A Clear-Cut Win

With over 99% of ballots counted, Kast garnered 58.17% of the vote, defeating leftist contender Jeannette Jara, who earned 41.83%.

This represents Kast's third presidency, having in the past been beaten by the incumbent president, Gabriel Boric, in the 2021 second round.

Platform Focused On Law and Order and Immigration

Noted for his strong socially conservative views and regard for the era of dictator Augusto Pinochet, Kast's campaign was primarily built on promises to combat increasing insecurity and drastically curb migration.
