Dame Helen Mirren Will Be Awarded Globes' Cecil B DeMille Award.

The distinguished British actress Dame Helen, currently recipient of an Oscar, four Baftas, Golden Globe wins, five Emmy Awards, and a Tony, will soon receive another prestigious accolade to her trophy case: the DeMille Golden Globe lifetime honor.

Honors Presentation

Mirren, octogenarian, formerly honored as a dame in 2003 and named a BAFTA fellow in the year 2014, will receive the award during a presentation January 8, three days before the primary Globes ceremony occur, as part of a ceremony promoted by the Globes as Golden Eve.

Additionally featuring the presentation of the Globes’ Carol Burnett honor for TV work, whose winner has yet to be announced. The prior year’s honorees were Viola Davis and Ted Danson.

“Dame Helen represents a force of nature, and her professional journey is truly extraordinary,” remarked Helen Hoehne, the Globes’ leader. “Her brilliant portrayals and devotion to her art constantly motivate generations of artists and fans too. We are deeply honored to present her with this lifetime achievement honor.”

Notable Roles

Mirren became well-known back in the 70s through significant parts on stage in London’s theater district and with the RSC and in cinematic works including O Lucky Man!, Caligula & The Long Good Friday.

Back in the 90s, her prominent part in the crime series Prime Suspect broadened her fanbase even more. Other important films comprise Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park and Calendar Girls.

She earned an Academy Award for her performance as Queen Elizabeth II in 2006 film The Queen, a part she returned to in 2013 in The Audience, the theatrical work from Peter Morgan concerning the sessions with the Queen and premier the former PM, a performance for which she received a Tony Award in 2015.
